HEARTBURN - ACID REFLUX IN PREGNANCY
Heartburn, also called acid indigestion or dyspepsia, is a very common discomfort in pregnancy. The muscles of the stomach may be slower at breaking down food and the growing baby within the uterus can put pressure on the stomach, forcing food back up into your esophagus (throat).
NUTRITION: 7 TIPS FOR A HEALTHIER PREGNANCY
Nutrition before, during, and after pregnancy is important. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommends a daily supplement of 400 mcg of folic acid, regardless of how much folate is consumed in your diet even if you do not plan on getting pregnant.
PLACENTA COMPLICATIONS
The placenta is a temporary organ that exists in the uterus only during pregnancy. It develops in the uterus 7 to 10 days after conception and attaches to the uterine wall away from your cervix. Complications can happen with how and when the placenta grows or separates from the uterus.
URINARY TRACT INFECTIONS IN PREGNANCY
Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are common in pregnancy. As pregnancy progresses, the growing baby and uterus can press on the ureter and bladder, making it harder to empty the bladder. This can trap urine and bacteria in the ureter. If untreated, UTIs can lead to complications, including preterm birth. If you suspect a UTI, call your doctor right away!
