Project Coordinator

The part-time Project Coordinator is new staff position at BLACK Wellness & Prosperity Center (BWPC), to contribute to the strategic expansion of our organization. The Project Coordinator will work closely with the internal team and external stakeholders with involvement across multiple projects.

BWPC is a research-driven social enterprise founded to make equitable policies and programs more effective. BLACK Wellness and Prosperity Center promotes Belonging, Love, Affinity, Community, and Kinship through culturally congruent system improvements across the prenatal to postnatal continuum of care to advance improved outcomes in maternal health and wellbeing for Black women/persons and their families. BWPC upholds racism as a root cause of adverse maternal child health experiences for Black women and babies, particularly, the negative impacts of Anti-Black Racism throughout the life course.

Day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Support in the development of work plans and project budgets

  • Collaborate with staff and support the logistics and planning of cross-sector projects, and reporting

  • Support communication efforts by attending donor/partner meetings, providing updates on projects, input to newsletters, social media communications, website

  • Support the maintenance of databases of key programmatic information, draft agendas, meeting minutes

  • Provide regular updates on project related progress – (internal reporting only)

  • Understand project priorities and take part in proposing modifications in order to meet targets

  • Collaborate with vendors, partners, and community members

  • Work closely with internal team on the development of community outreach, including educational materials, and project design and implementation strategies

  • Handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality

  • Perform administrative tasks

  • Complete trainings as needed

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong written communication skills for community and academic audiences; Excellent use of spoken and written English

  • Communicate effectively to ensure overall project targets and donor requirements are met

  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications such as Excel, Word, email, calendar software, and other communications software

  • Ability to dress in a business professional manner

  • Sound judgment

  • Fast learner

  • Ability to filter a wide range of information and focus on what really matters

  • Ability to efficiently reach meetings and events throughout the Fresno metropolitan area

  • Ability to carry at least 25 pounds

Qualification and Working Experience:

  • Experience in working with the target population; knowledge of SDOH

  • Commitment to the values, missions, aims and policies of BWPC

  • Holds degree from an accredited four-year university. All discipline areas are welcome to apply. Candidates with a background in public policy, public health, business administration, nursing, and communications are strongly encouraged to apply. A combination of education and experience will be considered.

  • At least 1-2 years of experience in administrative and/or operations support, project and/or program management and administration, sub-award management, and tracking project performance

  • Demonstrated experience in successfully fulfilling tasks/projects

  • Demonstrated ability to manage, motivate and support community members or non-hierarchical teams

  • Ability to present results and products to partners and community

  • Experience with communication tools, social media platform is a plus


Start Date and Work Methods:

  • September 15, 2021

  • Hybrid (remote and in person as needed)

Approximately 30 hours/week; Starting at $20-$25/hour based on skills and experience. Opportunities for future increases based on performance, comparable salaries for the work and position, and available budget from the project-based funding source(s).
