"Community resonates with me. I love how BWPC shows up for the community with education, resources, and a helping hand. BWPC provided me with community when I was pregnant with my first child. It was a really vulnerable time in my life and I felt like I found a tribe of people that understood and cared for me and my baby. With the support BWPC provided, I felt more confident and prepared during my pregnancy and postpartum."

"Community. I grew up on the East Coast surrounded by black people. It was a real void in my life not having that in my life after I moved here. BWPC introduced me to the black community here in Fresno. BWPC Provided support during my two pregnancies, and a connected me to the black community, which was really appreciated since I am not from here and used to being surrounded by black people."
-Ericka
"Community really resonates with me because as a mother of 2, you need to be a part of a motherhood community to better understand motherhood and everything it comes with it. It’s really important to be a part of a group or resonate with women in the same position as you. This center has helped me not feel lonely during this time in my life. As a stay at home mom, it can get lonely and repetitive so going to the group every week really provided a positive change to my daily life."

"The word that resonates with me most would be “Community” as that what I felt during the Black Maternal Health week event! I was able to connect with providers, orgs and some family & friends during the event. All while teaching my daughters about the work that I’m doing, to better reproductive health outcomes for black mamas now and it the future."
-Bre'Jaynae

It has humbled me by showing that success is possible no matter the challenges or barriers we face, and that consistency—showing up with intention and commitment—always makes a difference. Through BWPC, I’ve learned that growth is ongoing, that resilience is powerful, and that supporting others on their journey enriches my own."

"All the words is a reflection for me. Each word represents what and who the Black Wellness and Prosperity Center are. The people that enter the building are made to feel belonging, love, affinity, community, and kinship. [BWPC] made an impact when it opened in a community where it was well needed and received. Giving African American people and others a place to help mothers to be and/or mothers with parenting skills to be the best mothers they can be. A place where they are welcomed and feel comfortable sharing the experiences and/or asking for help. A place where they can attend programs and get help with a variety of supplies for their children. A great addition to the center for the community is a mobile unit. An opportunity to travel in the communities as a resource for prenatal and health care."
-Debbie
"Community for me. As a S. Asian ally for improving birthing outcomes and maternal health among all women, but especially black women, I feel so lucky to have befriended black mothers, professionals, colleagues and wisdom keepers from all stages of life. My first mentor introduced me to the world of maternal health and helped me see the value I bring to the table as a post-grad."
